Saran wrap French tips with a Bundle Monster stamp

Do you know about my nail art contest?

This week's theme in the RedditLaqueristas' 52 week challenge is Saran Wrap! Eight down... fourty-four to go!

I decided to go with saran wrap French tips. I really like the mix of pitch black and metallic pink! I actually first bought this polish because I was dying for a chrome-like colour to use for stamping. I had spotted China Glaze's Khrome collection, but it's been discontinued for a while and the bottles go for way too much money on ebay.

So when I saw this Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear at the drugstore for just a few dollars, I knew it was perfect for stamping. It's thick and opaque, plus it doesn't dry too quickly, giving me a chance to pull off a decent stamping job.

And here is the mani before I added the stamp.

Saran wrap is so simple and gives such amazing results! I really like this technique and I can't wait to try different colour combos.

The polishes I used:

  • Base coat: Essie - All In One Base
  • Black: Essence - Black is Black
  • Pink: Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Pink Satin (awesome stamping polish!)
  • Stamp design: Bundle Monster stamping plate BM-311 (from the 2012 set)
  • Top coat: Sèche Vite

The technique:

I applied a base coat, then two coats of Black is Black. I then taped off my tips and applied a thick coat of Pink Satin, which I then textured using the saran wrap technique (find a tutorial here). I added a top coat. I then stamped my design using Pink Satin, and added a top coat again.

  1. I really like this! Often manis like this end up being "too much" but this one looks amazing with the stamp and textured tips :)

    1. Thanks Liz! I wasn't too sure about this one before I added the stamp, but I really wanted to try stamping with this polish - that was what I bought it for originally. And in the end it turned out pretty cool! Reminds me of Chloe's Nails... but I'm not even getting anywhere close to how awesome her nails always looked!

    1. Hi Samantha! Yeah that was the reason why I did it like this. Like Shannon, I wasn't super inspired by the saran wrap theme, so I tried to at least do something I hadn't seen before.

I luuurrrve metallic pink as well! I bought this one quite recently, I'm sure if you visit your local drugstore soon you'll find it. It's a lovely formula.
